An AI Career Roadmap for Students (No CS Degree Needed)
Here's something most people don't tell you: you don't need a computer science degree to build a career around AI. Step 1: Get comfortable using AI (1–2 weeks)
Start by using AI daily for real tasks — studying, writing, organising, planning. Comfort comes before everything else. You're learning to think with these tools, not just poke at them.
Step 2: Learn to direct AI to build things (a month)
This is the leap most people never make. Learn to describe what you want and guide AI to build it — an app, an automation, a tool. You don't write the code; you judge the output and steer it. This is the single most valuable, most teachable skill, and it's exactly what our Starter program covers.
Step 3: Build a portfolio of real projects (ongoing)
Three or four small things you actually built beat any certificate. A tool that solves a real problem for your college, your family business, or your community is proof no degree can match. Employers and colleges respond to 'here's what I made.'
Step 4: Apply AI to your own field
A commerce student who automates reports, an arts student who builds content tools, a mechanical student who prototypes faster with AI — these are real, in-demand roles today. Your domain knowledge plus AI is a rarer, more valuable combination than pure tech skills alone.
